Are we hot or cold…or lukewarm?
We Can’t Be Lukewarm
Revelation 3:15-16 NLT – 15 “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16 But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!
Jesus is addressing one of the churches listed in the book of Revelation. Jesus is telling them he knows everything they are doing, but they are not going after God very strongly. They are going through the motions.
Jesus is telling me that either be all in or all out, don’t be in the middle. Don’t be lukewarm.
Our family had a discussion the other night that even those that reject God will give him glory. Everything will give him glory. In Isaiah 45:23 it tells us that every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. There will be no exceptions. But if you don’t bend your knee before you die, it will be too late to choose Jesus. In our lives, that is God’s plan…. to give him glory.
When we knock on doors and no one answers, or there isn’t anyone that has any interest in God. That still brings him glory. The act of us knocking on doors in faith brings God glory.
When we go door knocking, we don’t open gates. We respect the privacy and ownership of their property, and a closed gate is an implied, Do Not Enter. In those cases, we will leave our information on the gate for fence and go to the next house.
A man came out to the sidewalk, holding our flyer, yelling “hail Satan, 666, hail Satan, 666!”
The same night we had the discussion about God getting glory, we had a man in his 20’s come out of his house after we put our info on the fence. We were about four houses away and he was yelling, Hail Satan, 666.
My first response was, “really?” Maybe it came from a heart of sadness for this man. I don’t know, but then again, I know that God will get glory from everything. I then said to a couple of my kids that at least he is not lukewarm.
