Two Wonderful Conversations
Just show up…
Many times, in the past I have battled my sinful flesh when it comes to simple obedience. I remember times where I was just off and my body was telling me, “You need to take a break, you need to rest, you have had a long day, take time for yourself, you don’t need to go to that Bible study tonight.” Am I alone in this?
Sometimes I didn’t go, that was rare, but the times when you were tempted to make excuses, and you still go anyway, you feel great because you did the right thing.
I had those feelings recently when planning our night outreaching. I had been sick and had a cough, but I was over it at this point. But something was just off. I just didn’t feel up to knocking on doors. The devil was throwing all sorts of things at me. One of the attacks this day was this “you are horrible at Spanish, what do you think you are going to communicate anyway?”
Needless to say, I went out tired, and low. But I said, “God, you know how I feel, you know how my weak abilities are, you will have to come through like you always do.” I went in faith, knowing that I have a voice and God can fill it with the right words at the right time.
I needed that!
That night I had two wonderful conversations. One woman spoke very articulate, slow Spanish and God allowed me to understand what she was saying and allowed her to understand my heart for lost through my broken Spanish. We talked about the fact that Jesus is coming soon and the time is very short. It was a mutually encouraging conversation.
The second conversation I had was with a woman named Patricia. She came outside to have me pray for her. She had been crying and was obviously upset. She asked me to pray for “dos corazones”, in English that is two hearts. She said that she was in the process of going through a divorce and wanted prayer for all the details. To pray for both hearts involved.
I prayed for her and ministered to her. We also had a great conversation about the Lord. She said her faith is what is keeping her.
After that night I said Thank you Lord. Thank you for allowing me to see you work. I don’t know all the details of what God was/is doing in both of those lives, but I am thankful to be a part of His work. That is the power of just showing up!
