I Know You! – Javier

I Know You! Story of Javier

What I think is really cool is when God allows us to meet the same people more than once. This happened again a couple of weeks ago. We were knocking on doors at a really large apartment complex, with multiple buildings and about 280 apartments. Now, sometimes apartment buildings in Arizona have the stairs and apartment access from the outside, that was the case here.

We had finished several buildings one day and went back to finish the complex the next day. I needed to finish some apartments in one building while the family moved on to start another one.

I climbed to the third floor and knocked on the 1st door, but no answer. As I was about to knock on the second door I could hear some kids bounding up the stairs. This cute little boy says Hi and says his name is Noah. I said hi and then introduced myself to the dad following behind.

He said, “I’ve met you before”. He proceeded to tell me about the conversation we had at his old residence. I had prayed for him to get some custody of his kids. He was telling me many things about our talk. I asked him when we talked, he said in October. I still couldn’t remember. I knock on so many doors and have many conversations, but I was feeling really bad that I couldn’t remember.

This conversation was very good. I am sometimes amazed at God’s timing. I had talked with this guy before and now, some time later I am at his door just as he is coming home with his kids to be able to pray for him.

I sometimes keep notes about conversations. I found one in my phone and texted him later asking if this was his old address. He confirmed it was. My last conversation with him was on May 15th. It wasn’t October, it was almost a year ago… now I don’t feel so bad for not remembering!

We have a similar story at the church we currently attend. My son Josh and I shared with a guy named Raul. He remembered my son and the cowboy hat he was wearing. There is another guy named Alex that apparently I was in his house and prayed with him. So when we showed up at church the first time, he said, “I know you, you were in my house.” The funny thing is, we had come from a different church that his father pastors and they had just been talking about us and our work in evangelizing. Then when we walked through the door at church, it all clicked.

There is No God!

To go from there is no God to a point where there is a God, I’ll call that a win. She didn’t receive Christ that day, but I invited her to church and also gave her my number. I pray that God continues to work in her hard. Pray that God removes her stony heart and gives her a tender and responsive heart.
